Blog Entry 1: New Beginnings

Welcome everyone.

Today marks the first day of my new blog. I have two others, one about my pets by my pets and one about products my pets have tired and what I thought of them. Thinking about how much work I did around the house made me also think about making a blog to talk about the daily life of a mother and wife.

So let me start off with a simple introduction. My name is Erin, I’m a mother of three kids who are currently 5 and under. I’m a stay at home mom or as I like to call is a Domestic Goddess. I have 5 guinea pigs, 2 ferrets and 3 goldfish. I not the best at writing but I do try my best.

When people ask what I do, they always seemed shock when I tell them I am a stay at home mom, like this is some kind of illness or something.

“Oh god shes a SAHM! Back away slowly!!”

Others will give me looks as if I am suppressing woman’s rights but not working out of the home.

“Who does she think she is? We aren’t in the 1930’s anymore.”

The fact of the matter is, I most days enjoy being a domestic goddess. Don’t get me wrong, there are good days and bad days. Most are good days but having three smart children does keep me on my feet. When one isn’t making a mess or getting into something its one of the other two.

But running around after kids is not all I do in a day. I love to cook, and do so usually 6 days of the week. I take one day off and let hubby cook or order something in. I hope as time goes on to post photo how tos of some of the things I cook for the family. I don’t often use a recipe, making things up as I go is the fun part. But when I do use one and post about it, always look for mention of what book or URL I got it from so you can make it too!

I also clean up A LOT! Everyone in my house seems to think that little magical fairies come during the day or at night and clean the house. Well dear readers, I am going to tell you the truth. I am that magical cleaning fairy. Like most houses my house is unorganized, cluttered and messy! Yes I am sad to say that no matter what I do I am never happy with the way my house looks. Lots of my friends tell me my house is so much more organized than theirs, truth is it might or might not be true. For me, its too messy.

Over the last few months I have been self teaching myself how to sew. This is a totally new path and hobby for me. So far my guinea pigs and ferrets are enjoying most of the things I make. This past Christmas I made my niece and nephew sock monkey’s. I plan to post about that soon, as it was a huge challenge but one I over came and they both turned out GREAT, in my opinion.

If you think that all that isn’t enough for one person let me tell you I also pen pal and scrapbook. I know what your thinking, oh you email people. WRONG! I take that weird thing called a pen and put it to another weird thing called paper. I have many people in Canada, USA, UK and many other places that I write to at least once a month. Its a lot of fun.

Scrapbook is frustrating! It really is, do you have any idea how many times I have ended up with glue stick all over me? Or spelled something wrong and had to start all over? Way to many times, that’s how many. Once the page is finished I do have to say its well worth it.
Well I must end this for now in fear that I have totally lost all hope of return readers or followers. But if on the off chance I haven’t please stay tuned for more ramblings of The Daily House Wife.
